Spelman is an all‑women’s liberal arts HBCU in Atlanta known  for consistently being rated among the top HBCUs for academic rigor,  leadership development, and producing powerful changemakers. For decades  it’s set the standard in education for Black women, combining elite  scholarship with a deeply rooted sense of culture and service. Founded in 1881, Spelman has built a legacy of  excellence that spans civil rights, literature, politics, and the arts.  Notable alumnae include Stacey Abrams (politician, voting rights leader,  author), Alice Walker (Pulitzer Prize‑winning novelist of The Color Purple), and Keshia Knight Pulliam (actress known for The Cosby Show).  The school has shaped generations of women who lead, innovate, and  inspire. While Spelman no longer fields intercollegiate athletics in many  traditional sports, there is renewed energy on campus via intramural and  wellness programs. The Jaguar is back in intramural sports, and student wellness initiatives are expanding opportunities for sport and  competition. "What If" the women bring soccer back? The kit is ready!
